This evening, in response to global climate change, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) has once again launched the “Earth Hour”, calling on individuals and organizations to take actions and give an hour for earth. Responding to the campaign, Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (Trina Solar) calls for the adoption of clean energy and joins hands with clean energy providers focusing on PV to chart a beautiful blueprint for a community of life on earth.

At this time last year, Trina Solar, WWF Beijing Office, and Shenzhen-based One Planet Foundation jointly launched the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign, which is a new initiative launched in China during Earth Hour 2022, the world’s most influential public environmental protection program. “Clean Energy for Earth” calls on all organizations and individuals who are concerned with climate change and low-carbon environmental protection to join the cause, raise public awareness of clean energy adoption, and jointly contribute to building a carbon-neutral future.

Over the past year, by fulfilling its mission of “Solar Energy for All”, Trina Solar has been actively practicing energy conservation and emission reduction under the initiative of WWF and One Planet Foundation. We have hosted a series of themed events such as the SBTi training to encourage more individuals to actively use clean energy and promote green development across the globe.

In 2022, Trina Solar initiated the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign joined and supported by hundreds of Chinese and international companies and institutions, including IBM, Air Liquide, the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FINNCHAM), Triumph Science & Technology Group, Zhongshe Construction Group, Huazhu Hotels Group, ZTE, Energy China, and SAIC General Motors, to name just a few. Together, we called on the world to enhance the use of clean energy and create a carbon-neutral and nature-friendly future. According to reports from various media outlets, the “Clean Energy for Earth” global campaign attracted 1.38 million views and extensive public support.

In 2022, in response to the Campaign, Trina Solar and One Planet Foundation co-hosted a painting competition with the theme of “A World of Clean Energy” for young children. All participants were awarded “Clean Energy Pioneer”. Focusing on children, the competition raised their awareness of clean energy adoption and expanded the influence of the Campaign.

In 2022, Trina Solar orchestrated a series of promotional posters for the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign on major occasions such as Earth Day to promote clean energy adoption and turn the planet into a more beautiful place. Here are some of the posters we created: Earth Day | Covering the World with Green Using Clean Energy; World Intellectual Property Day | Meeting Carbon Neutrality Goals with Intellectual Property and Clean Energy; Two-Year Anniversary of China’s Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals | Building a Beautiful Net-zero World with Clean Energy.

Last year, working with WWF, Trina Solar invited companies to participate in SBTi training sessions and provided integrated solutions for photovoltaic (PV) smart energy tailored to their needs. To date, over 800 companies have participated in our training sessions, which encouraged business players across the entire supply chain to take actions to achieve carbon neutrality.

Also in 2022, at the Zero Carbon Mission to the International Climate Summit 2022, an event co-organized by WWF and Phoenix TV, Trina Solar won the Climate Solver Award for its technological innovations in addressing climate change. We are also the only PV company to receive the award in 2022. Based on WWF’s Climate Solver Program, the award identifies innovative low-carbon technologies and builds a global platform for technology transfer and multi-party cooperation. For Trina Solar, winning the Climate Solver Award represents WWF’s full recognition of our innovative low-carbon technologies.

2023 marks the second year of the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign. To achieve the zero-carbon goal and create a nature-friendly future by 2030, we need to further leverage the power of clean energy. To that end, Trina Solar plans to co-organize the “Clean Energy for Earth” Global Technology Forum together with institutions including WWF and launch zero-carbon PV projects with stakeholders of the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign. In doing so, we aim to contribute to the global cause of energy conservation and emission reduction through various forms of events and projects, and create a fair, carbon-neutral, and nature-friendly future.
